Example Engagements

The kind of work we're built for

A note on the examples below: EJH is a young consultancy, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than dress up hypothetical work as finished client history. The scenarios on this page are illustrative — the type and shape of engagement we're set up to deliver — not accounts of specific named clients. As real engagements complete, we'll replace these with genuine case studies.

01

Safety case renewal for a rail signalling upgrade

Challenge: An operator replacing legacy signalling hardware needed a safety case that would hold up to independent assessment, on a timeline set by a hard cutover date.
Approach: V&V strategy and requirements traceability built in from the start, with assurance evidence gathered continuously rather than assembled retrospectively at the end.
Outcome: A safety case with evidence available on demand, and no last-minute scramble before assessment.

02

Requirements traceability overhaul for a defence programme

Challenge: Requirements had drifted from their original source across several design iterations, and no one could confidently say which version was current.
Approach: Every requirement re-linked to its source and its verification evidence, with a single owned baseline going forward.
Outcome: Every stakeholder building against the same, current set of requirements — and a clear audit trail showing why.

03

Substation protection system integration

Challenge: Protection relays from three different suppliers needed to work together as a single coordinated system, with no single supplier responsible for the interfaces between them.
Approach: Independent systems integration across the supplier boundaries, with interface risks identified and closed out before commissioning rather than during it.
Outcome: A system commissioned on schedule, with interface issues caught on paper instead of on site.
